The next two herbs in the formula open and circulate Lung Qi: Peucedanum root (Qian Hu) and Bitter orange peel (Zhi Ke)

Herbs to reduce tightness in the neck and head: Notopterygium root (Qiang Huo); Kudzu root (Ge Gen); Siler and root (Fang Feng)

Three herbs dry wetness: Atractylodes rhizome (Cang Zhu); Poria root (Fu Ling); and Pubescent angelica root (Du Huo)

To focus the action of the herbs on the upper body we use: Bupleurum root (Chai Hu); Chinese cimicifuga rhizome (Sheng Ma); and Platycodon root (Jie Geng)

Critical action is to open stagnation and to circulate fluids: Ginger root (fresh) (Sheng Jiang); Jujube fruit (Da Zao); and Sichuan pepper (Hua Jiao)

Mandatory in a formula such as this is to strengthen the Spleen Qi to help with fluid metabolism using: Astragalus root (Huang Qi); Poria root (Fu Ling); and Licorice root (Gan Cao)
